Citi Strata℠

The Citi Strata is built for someone who wants solid everyday rewards without paying an annual fee. It works best as a regular spending card for groceries, gas, transit, and a chosen 3x category, rather than as a travel card you take abroad or a premium perks card.

Is the Citi Strata℠ worth it?

This card is great for...

Groceries and gas

Transit and commuting

Flexible everyday rewards

Yes, for the right cardholder. The Citi Strata makes sense if you want a no-annual-fee card that covers common household spending well and gives you some flexibility through its 3x choice category. That mix can make it a practical primary card for day-to-day purchases, especially if your spending leans toward groceries, gas, local transit, and other routine expenses rather than one narrow bonus category.

The tradeoff is that this is a rewards-first card with very little else attached. There are no listed statement credits, travel perks, or notable side benefits helping to separate it from other no-fee options, and the 3% foreign transaction fee makes it a poor fit for international use. If you want straightforward everyday points and do not need extra perks, it is easy to justify. If you care more about travel protections, lounge access, or stronger dining and travel value, you will likely want something else.

MaxRewards Verdict

The Citi Strata is a good fit for everyday spenders who want no-fee ThankYou points and useful bonus categories for routine purchases. Its main limitation is simple: beyond rewards, there is not much here, and the foreign transaction fee makes it better at home than abroad.

Rewards

Rewards percent based on a valuation of 1¢ per ThankYou® point

Citi Strata earns ThankYou points, with the strongest value coming from everyday categories instead of luxury travel benefits. The key question here is whether its 3x and 2x categories line up with how you already spend each month.
