How the math works
How your estimate is calculated
We add the value this card could provide over two years, then subtract what it costs to keep.
Why two years?
A welcome offer can make the first year look unusually valuable. Two years balances that one-time offer against the card’s ongoing value and cost.
Your 2-year estimate

Annual fees
First-year fee + ongoing annual fee
Estimated 2-year value
A planning estimate, not a guarantee.
We apply the card’s reward rate to the yearly spending you entered for each category. Spending above a category cap earns the card’s base rate, and the yearly rewards total is counted twice.
We count the offer once and include only the value your monthly spending puts you on pace to earn within the offer’s stated deadline.
We use the redemption method or point value shown in the calculator. The value you actually receive can vary depending on how you redeem your rewards.
We subtract the card’s first-year fee and its ongoing annual fee. If the first-year fee is waived, the first year counts as $0.
