Barnes & Noble Mastercard®

This card is built for regular Barnes & Noble shoppers who want a simple way to save on book, toy, and gift purchases without paying an annual fee. It works best as a store-focused specialist card, not as your main card for everyday spending.

Overview

Is the Barnes & Noble Mastercard® worth it?

This card is great for...

Barnes & Noble purchases

Book and gift buying

Occasional dining spend

The Barnes & Noble Mastercard is worth it if you spend enough at Barnes & Noble to make the 5% back meaningful. With no annual fee, there is little downside to carrying it for store purchases, and the small welcome offer is easy to earn. If you already buy books, games, toys, or gifts there several times a year, this card gives you an easy built-in discount.

For most readers, though, its role should stay narrow. The 2% back on dining is fine but not distinctive, and 1% everywhere else is easy to beat with a general cash back card. If Barnes & Noble is not a place you shop often, this card will not do much for your wallet.

MaxRewards

MaxRewards Verdict

A sensible pick for loyal Barnes & Noble customers who want no-fee savings on their store purchases. Outside of that niche, the rewards are too ordinary to make it a strong everyday card.

Rewards

The rewards setup here is straightforward: the value is concentrated at Barnes & Noble, with modest returns on dining and standard 1% back elsewhere. Think of this as a store card with a little extra flexibility, not a broad rewards card.
