The Verizon card is worth a look if you are already in the Verizon ecosystem and spend a lot in its 4% categories. Groceries, gas, dining, and EV charging cover a large share of many households' budgets, so a no-annual-fee card that pays elevated cash back there can be genuinely useful for day-to-day spending.

Its limitation is that the appeal is narrow. There is no welcome bonus, the return on non-bonus spending is just 1%, and there are no listed travel or protection perks to help separate it from other no-fee cards. If your spending is concentrated in those bonus categories, it can be a strong supporting card. If you want one card to use for nearly everything, most readers will want a broader setup.
