Sapphire Reserve for Business℠

This card is built for business owners who travel often, book meaningful airfare and hotel spend, and can actually use a long list of premium credits. It is not an everyday business card for broad spending, but a high-fee specialist for companies that want strong travel earnings, ad spend rewards, and premium travel protections in one place.

Overview

Is the Sapphire Reserve for Business℠ worth it?

This card is great for...

Direct flight and hotel bookings

Search and social ad spend

Frequent airport travel

The Sapphire Reserve for Business makes the most sense for business owners who will use the travel credits, value lounge-style travel perks, and spend heavily in its bonus categories. The standout earning rates are 4x points on flights and hotels booked direct, 8x through Chase Travel, and 3x on social media and search engine advertising. If your business regularly buys airfare, hotel stays, and digital ads, those categories can do a lot of the work in justifying the card.

The $795 annual fee is the main hurdle. This is only a strong fit if you expect to use several of the card's credits, especially the $300 annual travel credit and hotel-related credits, and if you want the travel protections that come with a premium Visa card. If most of your business spending falls outside travel and advertising, or you prefer a simpler card with easier value, this card will likely feel too expensive for what you get.

MaxRewards

MaxRewards Verdict

A strong fit for business owners with regular travel and digital ad spend, especially if they can use the hotel and travel credits naturally. For everyone else, the fee is hard to justify and the 1x base earn rate leaves too much spend under-rewarded.

Rewards

This card earns Chase Ultimate Rewards points, with the real value concentrated in travel and advertising rather than everyday business purchases. The rewards story here is simple: it can be very rewarding in the right lanes, but it is not designed to be your only card for general spending.

Benefits

The benefits package is a big part of the card's value, and it matters more here than on most business cards. Before focusing on the headline fee, look at which travel credits, hotel perks, lounge access, and protections you would realistically use each year.

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, which means you're unlikely to be approved if you've opened five or more credit cards across any issuer in the past 24 months. This is one of the most important eligibility factors to check before applying, since Chase typically declines applications automatically if you're over the limit regardless of your credit score or income.

Points Boost is a Chase feature that lets you to redeem your Ultimate Rewards points at up to 2 cents each for select flights and hotels booked through Chase Travel, which is double the standard 1 cent per point redemption rate. The boosted rate applies to specific hotels and flights selected by Chase, so not every booking will qualify. For businesses that prefer redeeming points through the Chase Travel portal, Points Boost can significantly increase the value of earned points.

Cardholders get access to the Chase Sapphire Lounge by The Club network, on top of over 1,300 Priority Pass Select lounges worldwide. Primary cardholders can bring up to two guests into lounges at no charge, which is a notable advantage over competing premium business cards that have recently limited guest access. The card also includes access to select Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounges and Air Canada Cafés in the U.S., Canada, and Europe.

Both cards share the same $795 annual fee, lounge access benefits, and $300 annual travel credit. The key differences come down to earning categories and statement credits. The personal card earns 3x on dining and offers lifestyle-focused credits for things like streaming services, DoorDash, and Peloton. The business card replaces dining rewards with 3x on social media and search engine advertising, making it a stronger option for businesses with significant marketing spend. The business card's credits are also geared toward business tools like Google Workspace and ZipRecruiter rather than the consumer-focused perks on the personal card.
