Spirit Airlines World Mastercard®

This card is built for regular Spirit flyers who want to earn Free Spirit points on everyday spending, not just on flights. It works best as a loyalty card for someone already comfortable with Spirit’s low-cost model, rather than as a general travel card for broad airline flexibility.

Is the Spirit Airlines World Mastercard® worth it?

This card is great for...

Spirit flight purchases

Everyday spending for Free Spirit points

No foreign transaction fees

For a Spirit loyalist, the $59 annual fee can be reasonable if you regularly book with the airline and want a simple way to build up Free Spirit points from both flights and daily purchases. The card’s strongest selling point is that it keeps the earning structure easy to understand, especially if your main goal is to lower the cost of future Spirit travel rather than maximize premium travel perks.

For most other readers, this is a niche airline card. Free Spirit points are worth far less than the points or cash back you can get from many general rewards cards, and the benefits list is very thin for a card with an annual fee. If you only fly Spirit occasionally, you will likely get more value from a no-annual-fee cash-back card and use those rewards however you want.

MaxRewards Verdict

This card makes sense for travelers who fly Spirit often enough to value Free Spirit points directly and want to earn them on everyday purchases. If you are not committed to Spirit, the low point value and limited perks make it a hard card to justify.

This card earns in Free Spirit points, so the rewards story depends heavily on how often you actually redeem with Spirit. The earning rates are straightforward, but the real question is whether Spirit-specific points are more useful to you than flexible cash back or transferable rewards.
