Target REDcard

The Target REDcard is built for regular Target shoppers who want a simple discount every time they check out, in store or online. It is a specialist card, not an everyday spending card, since its value is concentrated almost entirely on Target purchases.

Overview

Is the Target REDcard worth it?

This card is great for...

Target store purchases

Target.com orders

No-fee store card use

This card is worth it if Target is one of your main shopping destinations and you want an easy way to save on those purchases without paying an annual fee. The 5% back at Target and Target.com is straightforward and meaningful for households that regularly buy groceries, household basics, baby items, home goods, or seasonal purchases there.

Outside of Target, though, this card has little role. With no rewards on other spending and no listed travel, protection, or credit-style perks to broaden its appeal, it works best as a single-store card you pull out specifically at Target. If you want one card to cover most of your budget, a general cash-back card will be a better fit.

MaxRewards

MaxRewards Verdict

A strong fit for loyal Target shoppers who want a no-fee card dedicated to one retailer. For anyone looking for everyday rewards beyond Target, this card is too narrow to carry much value.

Earning

Rewards

The rewards setup is very simple: you get strong value on Target purchases and essentially nothing elsewhere. Think of this as a store-specific savings card, not a card for general spending.
